Good nutrition and attractive meals are an essential part of our service. Nutritional goals are achieved through our Dietary Department. Three meals a day plus nutritious snack are provided for residents in accordance with Ministry of Health regulations. Alternate selections to the main entrée are always available and residents are provided choices at each meal.
- Special and therapeutic diets are prepared according to the needs of the resident.
- Nutritional supplements and feeding aides are provided if determined appropriate by professional assessment completed in the home.
- Meal service is offered in the dining rooms, although for residents who may be acutely ill, meals can be provided in their room on a short term basis.
The Food Service Manager is responsible for supervising the team of Dietary Staff. Menus are assessed by our Registered Dietitian and are approved by the Residents Council as part of the Food Circle Meeting.
Menus are based on a three week rotation and are changed twice annually in the spring and fall. This allow the Dietitian and Food Service Manager to incorporate seasonal items.
All residents admitted to Copper Terrace are assessed at the time of admission and regularly thereafter, for their nutritional needs by the Dietitian and Food Service Manager.
All Dietary Aides hold certificates in safe food handling and have their Food Service Worker Certificates.
Special occasion meals are held throughout the year (Summer BBQ, Garden Party, Chicken/Rib Roast, Special Dinners, Resident Christmas Tea Social, Christmas Dinner). Notices go out to family members through the monthly mailings and are posted in the monthly newsletter.
